Ms Wetzel
Welcome to 8th grade art! I love getting to teach 8th grade students how to believe in themselves and encourage them to find and pursue their dreams through art. I grew up in Altoona and attended Southeast Polk. I started my college education at DMACC while taking orchestra at Drake and art therapy at Grand View University. I received my degree from Drake in 2010 to teach k-12 art. I student taught at Roosevelt, Howe, and Brubaker elementary in art and special education. I then studied photography at Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana.
I believe that my purpose as a teacher is to encourage students to find their purpose. My room is bright and colorful, and I love finding new projects and lettings students direct their learning through their own initiative and creativity. I have the best students in the world!
Outside of school, I enjoy photographing people, working on restoration projects, fixing up an old farm house, spending time with my family, and turning junk I find on the side of the road into treasures!
